The Antique Six Jazzband tour extensively and as a result are pleased to be able to recommend the following Fish and Chip shops around the country:

The Cod Father, 6-8 Duke St, Kingsbridge, Devon TQ7 1HU. This really is an exceptional establishment and warrants its own category of six stars!

The Best Fry, 214 Anns Hill Rd, Gosport, Hampshire PO12 3RE. Probably the finest chips in the country and the fish is great too. N.B. Don’t look for late fish and chips in Gosport, they close at 9.00pm, as does most of Gosport!

Daves Place, 4-6 Coxmoor Rd, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire NG17 4LZ. A recent trip to Sutton-In-Ashfield has raised the rating to five stars, we were well fed by Sue and Tanya. Quote from Sue “This is my fast food emporium”. Excellent value for money

London Fryer Fish Restaurant, 6 Seaway Rd, Paignton, Devon TQ3 2NY. A recent anonymous visit by the band to this establishment found the standard less than before and so we have demoted it to only 4 stars.

Ocean Delight, 620 Chigwell Rd, Woodford Green, Essex IG8 8AA

Mr Chips, 34 Hook Road, Chessington, Surrey KT9 1NU. As used by Wraysbury Jazz Club for their fish and chip supper, very good considering the large number supplied.

Yatton Fish Bar, 43-45 High St, Yatton, Bristol, Avon BS49 4HJ

Chipbox, 357 Derby Rd, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire NG7 2DZ Graham particularly liked the fish

The Chip Shop, 43 St Cuthbert Street, Kirkcudbright for the fish and fried haggis but only for the chips

Tolly's Plaice, 100 Dixon Lane, Lower Wortley, Leeds LS12 4AD Excellent fish and chips and, real homemade fish cakes, recommended by Chris Pearce who is always our official fish cake tester. Only open 11.15-1.45 Monday to Saturday and 4.15-6.45 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Bands heading for Leeds Jazz Club should arrive early to avoid disappointment

Neptune Restaurant 4-6 Pleasant Row, Hastings, E. Sussex. TN34 3AS Tel: 01424 714638. Very good service, good fish and chips, portions not huge but sufficient, fish cakes recommended, large mugs of strong tea.

Pany's Fish Bar 157, Northenden Rd, Sale Moor, Sale, Cheshire M33 2HS Tel: 0161 969 5083. Competitively priced (£2.50 for fish - you can pay £3.40 in London! Chips £1.20), good fish and fish cakes, chips a little under done (very busy at the time). Also does kebabs. Excellent stop off before gig at Sale Conservative Club

K & J Chippy 102 Mill Lane, Macclesfield, Cheshire SK11 7NR Tel: 01625 424705 Excellent fish with light crispy batter, good chips. Quality can suffer when very busy! Very smartly dressed assistants!

Chez Fred 10 Seamoor Rd, Westbourne, Bournemouth, Dorset BH4 9AN Tel: 01202 761023 The band were very impressed with this establishment, close to Bournemouth Jazz Club. Excellent chips, probably cooked in lard, all freshly cooked, real homemade fish cakes (and we mean real with salmon), small portions of chips for our more portly members and competitively priced. Recent re-test (25/02/08) confirms this establishment as one of the best in the country
